Domestic Dispute Leaves Woman Dead, Man Charged With Murder In Edgewater: Police (Updated)

A man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of murder after a domestic disturbance resulted in a 47-year-old woman dead and a man with traumatic injuries in Anne Arundel County.

At approximately 5 p.m. on Aug. 9, officers were called to a building in the unit block of South River South in Edgewater, where there was a reported stabbing with two people suffering from injuries.

The woman, Nancianne Houston, of Edgewater, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. 

A 58-year-old man was also rushed to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with what were described as "serious, life-threatening injuries to his upper body and an extremity" at the time.

On Friday, Sept. 27, authorities announced that James Strachan Houston, 58, of Edgewater, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, and related assault offenses in connection to the double stabbing.

According to reports, the two were married.

He was arrested on a warrant this week after being located in Edgewater by members of the Anne Arundel County Police Fugitive Apprehension Team located Houston in Edgewater and transported him to the Jennifer Road Detention Center to be processed on the charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
